Program on Sustainability and Renewable Energy Scheduled at Library The League of Women Voters of Smithtown joins with the Smithtown Library to present a program entitled “Home Energy and Healthy Homes,” on Monday,  July 24, 7 p.m.,  at the Library’s Main Building. Featured speaker is Chuck Swartz of Molloy College’s Sustainability Institute.   With a focus on  sustainability, Mr. Schwartz will discuss renewable energy options for homeowners:  how does one achieve home energy efficiency and maintain a healthy and safe home? In this regard, a partnership of significant importance to Long Island homeowners is the Long Island Green Homes Initiative, a cooperative effort by New York State, PSE&G of Long Island, and local not-for-profit organizations.  Its goal is to assist homeowners in heating and cooling planning.   Both Mr. Schwartz and a member of Smithtown’s Planning Department will look specifically at Smithtown’s energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.  After the presentation, community members will have the opportunity to ask questions about problems and possibilities for Smithtown homeowners.  Registration is required; please call the Library at (631) 360-2480.
