The Northport Jazz Band To Play In Kings Park June 23

Musical Moments in Kings Park presents The Northport Jazz Band Friday, June 23, 7:30 PM

Russ Savatt Park, 14 Main Street, Kings Park will be the scene of a concert by The Northport Jazz Band on Friday, June 23, 7:30 PM. All are invited to enjoy this free concert. Just bring a chair and enjoy music under the stars with neighbors and friends.

Eight members of The Northport Jazz Band will be performing. They are: Megan DeRiso, vocalist; Ken Cook, alto saxophone; Giuseppe Rappa, tenor saxophone; Mike Lawshe, bass; Joe Hopke, drums; Bill Valecente, keyboards; Steve Witthoff, trombone, and Tom Pandelakis, guitar. These musicians have been performing together for over seven years. They have given concerts at many Long Island libraries, the Kings Park Heritage Museum, Northport Family Fun Night and the American Airpower Museum.

Musical Moments in Kings Park is a series of outdoor summer concerts presented by the Kings Park Civic Association and the Kings Park Chamber of Commerce. Special sponsors for the evening are Ciro’s Italian Restaurant, McKnight Realty and Reel Kitchen. The concerts are made possible with support from sponsors and funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the NYS Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the NYS Legislature, administered by the Huntington Arts Council, Inc. Guiseppe Rappa stated that the Northport Jazz Band is dedicated to keeping jazz, America’s original art form alive. The band is made up of local community members of all walks of life and aims to encourage people of all ages to listed to and appreciate this ageless form of music. Giuseppe and Musical Moments urge all to come and support live jazz in Russ Savatt Park on June 23!
