Mt. Pleasant students take second in poster contest

As part of their fifth-grade health project, students at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in the Smithtown Central School District recently created posters for the Suffolk County Legislator’s poster contest on the dangers of vaping and e-cigarettes. One group of students – Alyssa Lorefice, Taylor Marsh and Maribella Marciano – was honored with a second-place win for their poster “Don’t Get Hooked on Liquid Nicotine.” They were honored with proclamations at the Suffolk County Legislator’s office on Nov. 20. The students are pictured with their teacher Amy Metz, physical education teacher Thomas Cameron and Principal Joseph Ierano.
