Elementary School Custodian Arrested For Public Lewdness

Suffolk County Police today arrested an elementary school custodian after he posted a video soliciting sex and exposing himself on social media while working at the school.

Thomas Winberry live steamed video of himself soliciting sex and exposing himself while working as a custodian at Otsego Elementary School, located at 55 Otsego Ave. in Dix Hills, on January 9 at 9:15 p.m.

Following an investigation, Special Victims Section detectives arrested Winberry, 34, of West Islip, and charged him with Public Lewdness. He was issued a desk appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Special Victim’s Section at 631-852-6531.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Two Teens Seriously Injured On Old Commack Road 

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured two teens in Commack today.

Alexander Wisniewski was driving a 2022 BMW M5 traveling northbound on Old Commack Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree on the driver’s side at 10:27 a.m.

Wisniewski, 18, of Dix Hills, and the passenger in the vehicle, Haris Khan, 18, of Dix Hills, were transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.

Man Installing Cesspool Ring Dies When Dirt Collapses In Head Of The Harbor

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was trapped after excavated dirt collapsed in Head of the Harbor. Employees from Darius Masonry Inc. were installing cesspool rings at 1 Piper Lane when LauronPacheco entered the hole to level the ring and the excavated dirt collapsed into the hole at approximately 2:25 pm.

Pacheco, 38, of Bay Shore, was extricated from the hole by Emergency Service Section officers and pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was notified.

Police Investigating MV Crash In Saint James Two Teens On Bike Hospitalized

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a teenager driving an electric motor bike in Saint James this evening.

Matthew McQuillan was driving a 2019 Infiniti QX6 eastbound on Middle Country Road when he attempted to make a left turn into a business and struck a Sur-Ron electric motor bike being operated by Myles Cotten, who was on the shoulder traveling westbound on Middle Country Road at 3:34 p.m.

Cotten, and his passenger Jack Schouten, who were not wearing helmets were thrown from the motor bike. Cotten, 13, of Saint James, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition. Schouten, 14, of Smithtown, was also transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. McQuillan, 24, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call

the Fourth Squad at 631-852-8752.

Police Looking For Person Who Stole $1,300 Worth Of Goods From HomeGoods

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Precinct Fourth Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the woman who stole from a Commack store this month. 

A woman stole various household items including a Versace blanket from HomeGoods, located at 6 Henry Street on December 17. The items were valued at approximately $1,300.

Two Employees At Assisted Living Facility In E.Nthpt. Arrested For Using Resident's Debit Card

Suffolk County Police arrested two employees of an East Northport assisted living facility for using a resident’s debit card to make unauthorized purchases between May and July. Marisol Garcia, a healthcare aide at Birchwood Suites Assisted Living, located at 423 Clay Pitts Road, used a resident’s debit card to make unauthorized purchases between May 13 and July 10. Tekina

England, who is also a healthcare aide at the same facility, used the same debit card to make a cash withdrawal from an ATM on June 1. Following an investigation, detectives determined the loss totaled more than $10,000.

Second Squad detectives arrested Garcia, 19, of Inwood, on October 19 and England, 38, of  Lindenhurst, on January 1. Garcia and England were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree and issued Desk Appearance Tickets.

Police Looking For Driver Who Hit Pedestrian In Kings Park

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Fourth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the driver who fled the scene of a pedestrian crash in Kings Park this month.

A vehicle hit a pedestrian in front of 2 East Main Street, Kings Park, on December 16 at 10 p.m. The police believe the vehicle is a blue Mazda.

Man Charged With Impersonating FBI Agent And Imprisoning 28-Year-Old

Brandon KnappSuffolk County Police last night arrested a man for impersonating an FBI agent and for unlawfully imprisoning a woman. 

Claiming to be an FBI agent, Brandon Knapp made contact with a 28-year-old woman after she posted on a social media website. The victim then invited him to meet her at a relative’s residence in Commack, where Knapp convinced her he could take her to a safe house. When he and the victim left in a 2004 Mercedes Benz, a concerned family member called her cell phone. After speaking with the victim, the family member feared for the victim’s safety and called police, who were able to locate the vicinity of the victim’s phone. 

Southampton Town Police were dispatched to the area, and the victim was dropped off at a nearby restaurant. Southampton Town Police responded to the location and transported her to the Seventh Precinct. 

Following an investigation by Fourth Squad detectives, Knapp was identified and located in the Mercedes in Riverhead, and he surrendered to a Canine Section officer in front of 55 Whitebrook Drive at 10:11 p.m.

Knapp, 27, of Center Moriches, was charged with Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree and Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree. He is being held overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on November 3. 

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they might have been a victim of Knapp’s to contact the Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8451.

Officer Involved-Shooting In Elwood

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating an officer-involved shooting that killed an Elwood man last night.

Second Precinct officers responded to 8 Mander Lane after a nearby resident called 911 at 8:44 p.m. reporting a man acting violent inside the home. When officers arrived, resident Alan Weber refused to come outside and was screaming and breaking items in the house. As officers entered the home, Weber confronted them with a sword. An officer fired shots, striking Weber.

Weber, 54, was transported to Huntington Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is continuing.
