DA SINI & NORTHPORT PD: TWO ALLEGED DRUG DEALERS INDICTED FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION BY DA’S HEROIN TASK FORCE

(RIVERHEAD, N.Y.) – Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini and the Northport Police Department today announced the indictment of two individuals in connection with the alleged sale of cocaine and other illicit substances following an investigation by the District Attorney’s Heroin Task Force.

“This investigation did not stop with the arrest of one defendant,” District Attorney Sini said. “Because of the dedication of the Northport Police Department, we were able to identify an accomplice who was allegedly attempting to remove the main target’s drug stash from his home after he was arrested. This indictment was the result of excellent investigative efforts and collaboration between the members of the Heroin Task Force.”

“This case is a fine example of the level of cooperation that exists on a daily basis between the layers of law enforcement in Suffolk County,” Northport Police Chief William Ricca said. “Resources and intelligence are routinely shared and the results are arrests like this one that gets the poison out of our communities.”

Jonathan Goldberg, 48, of Northport, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A-II felony; three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class B felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a class D felony; and Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Third Degree, a class E felony.

Denise Streeker, 42, of Manorville, is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class B felony; Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a class D felony; and Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Third Degree, a class E felony.

An investigation by the District Attorney’s Heroin Task Force, which includes the Northport Police Department, identified Goldberg as an alleged drug dealer and revealed evidence that he allegedly conducted two drug transactions in the parking lot of Ruvo Restaurant, located at 63 Broadway in Greenlawn, on March 22. Goldberg was arrested by Northport Police officers and was found in possession of more than four ounces of powder cocaine.

On March 25, officers from the Northport Police Department and Suffolk County Police Department’s Emergency Service Section went to execute a search warrant at Goldberg’s residence, located at 111 Scudder Place, when they observed Streeker leaving the house in a vehicle. Streeker was apprehended by police and was found in possession of more than one-half of an ounce of Oxycodone pills, approximately 85 grams of psilocybin (mushrooms), approximately one pound of marijuana, and approximately $26,700 cash.

Goldberg and Streeker were arraigned on the indictment today by Suffolk County Court Judge Philip Goglas. Bail was set for Goldberg at $100,000 cash or $250,000 bond. Bail was set for Streeker at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.

If convicted of the top count, Goldberg faces a maximum determinate sentence of up to 10 years in prison and Streeker faces a maximum determinate sentence of up to nine years in prison.

Goldberg and Streeker are due back in court on April 19.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Saam Jalayer, of the Narcotics Bureau.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Heroin Task Force comprises eight law enforcement officers from the District Attorney’s Office, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Suffolk County Police Department and Northport Police Department.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
