Suffolk County Police last night arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he crashed his pickup truck into a stopped police vehicle.

Brian Eddington was driving a 2016 Dodge Ram northbound on Nichols Road when he crashed into the back of a police vehicle at approximately 8:55 p.m. A Fifth Precinct officer had responded to an earlier crash at the scene, and was inside his vehicle with the overhead lights illuminated, off the roadway, when the incident occurred.  The officer was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Eddington, 43, of Medford, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip in the morning.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
