16 Year-Old Sachem East HS Student Dies After Accident At Football Workout

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a teenager that occurred during an off-season football workout at a Farmingville high school this morning.

During a strength and conditioning camp at Sachem East High School, located at 177 Granny Road, a group of athletes were performing a drill carrying a log overhead when the log fell and struck Joshua Mileto, a student at the school, in the head.

Mileto, 16, of Farmingville, was transported by the Farmingville Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392.
