The St. James Chamber of Commerce will hold their 35th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 16, 2019 along Lake Avenue beginning at 1 p.m.

St. James Resident Denise Davis Grand Marshal At 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade  It is with great pleasure that the Board of Directors of the St. James Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce their selection of Denise Davis as the 2019 Grand Marshal.

The honor of being chosen as Grand Marshal is the result of her lifetime of dedication and service to the community.
Denise and her husband John have been St. James residents, for over 20 years. They are parishioners of Sts. Philip and James R.C. Church and reside with their two daughters; Jillian and Jacqueline, three cats and their dog, Eloise, which is the St. James Chamber’s mascot.

Denise owns her own graphic design business – Artpix Studio! She is awesome at what she creates! Whether it is one of the beautiful banners for various events that I’m sure you have seen displayed throughout town, or her customized digital photo paintings of animals or local scenes, or the museum quality reproductions she has done for artists both near and far, her talents are sure to impress you.

Denise is an active board member of the St. James Chamber for 11 years, and is currently Vice President. Another local organization that she is heavily involved with is Deepwells Farm Historical Society. She is currently a board member for the past 5 years, and spends most of her time  – August through October – turning the beautiful 1845 Mansion into an extremely scary Haunted House for all of our enjoyment. Her ideas and creativity helped make Deepwells and St. James a top rated attraction and place to visit during the month of October. Besides chairing the haunted house fundraiser, she also brings in art shows, as well as psychic nights, oversees the fairs and summer concerts at Deepwells.

Besides her love for her family and town, she is passionate in her love of animals. She helps local Animal Rescues – helping with adoption events, donating and fostering cats.

Denise has been an active PTA member at Mills Pond Elementary when her girls attended  – always lending her artistic talents by creating an outdoor sign for the school or painting murals on the walls. She is truly St. James unsung hero. Her love of her town is endless.

Denise’s parents, (John Calbo –- Italian and Margaret Murphy – Irish), were both raised in the Bronx, NY. Her mom was raised in a true 100% Irish Catholic family with nine siblings. Five of the Murphy brothers served in WWII together. They were drafted one by one into different divisions of the service, with the 5th brother enlisting after the 4th shipped out. Jack Murphy was drafted into the 1st Inf. Div. also known as the “Big Red One.” He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Amazingly they all returned home – even with three of them participating in D-Day. A photo of the five Murphy Brothers in their uniforms was entered into the museum on Liberty Island on the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty. Denise is extremely proud of her Irish heritage and so proud of the true Americans they were.

Congratulations to Denise Davis, 2019 Grand Marshal of the St. James Chamber of Commerce’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Join us on Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m.along Lake Avenue to celebrate and honor Denise Davis for her lifetime of dedication and service to our community.
