Eileen Hattersley Co-President Of SBPWN Receives Hair We Share LOVE Award

Hair We Share the LOVE Award

Eileen Hattersley and Princess Madison Gold at Hair We Share’s 2nd Annual Love This Life FundraiserEileen Hattersley and Princess Madison Gold of Labradoodles of Long Island were honored for their therapy work at Hair We Share’s 2nd annual Love This Life Fundraiser at Oheka Castle on October 12th.

Eileen is most proud of her work with Long Island’s Princess Madison Gold. They are Certified with Alliance Therapy Dogs. The dog is trained to visits to hospitals, schools, nursing homes and special needs group homes. These special animals bring happiness and cheer to people, young and old alike. The canine interaction benefits people in many ways. Dogs are non-judgmental. Their calming effect lowers blood pressure, relaxes patients and brings a smile to their faces. Reading programs in schools help the children relax, while patting the attentive dog, and focus on the reading. Reading improves because the child is practicing the skill of reading, building self-esteem, and associating reading with something pleasant. reading with something pleasant.

Eileen Hattersley is a quality, master breeder of Australian Labradoodles. The dogs live in her home or with a guardian and are part of the family. Australian Labradoodles are funny, intelligent, loving, sociable, eager to please and oh so much fun. They are wonderful with children of all ages. They love people and are happiest cuddled up with a beloved family member.

“Madison and I were so honored to be recognized for the volunteer work we do through Alliance Therapy Dogs.  It not only brings joy to the people we visit, but it brings us tremendous happiness,”  explained Eileen.

Eileen is a resident of Setauket.  Besides breeding dogs, she is also the Co-President of Smithtown Business and Professional Women’s Network.  The networking group is celebrating its 35 anniversary with many events to raise funds for all of the philanthropic work they do including the Scholarship for a high school senior.

Hair We Share’s mission is to help maintain dignity, confidence, and self-esteem to those affected by medical hair loss. Custom wigs are created from donated hair and provided free of charge. It takes between one and nine ponytails to create one wig. The donated ponytails are sewn hair by hair and cost $125 to process each one. Ponytail sponsorship is as important as the hair itself.
